You may be able to guess the cubed like food at first glance, but I am sure most of the population wouldn't know. A very popular plant-based protein dish known as tofu. Tofu may be one of the healthiest foods out there when it comes to its packed in nutritional content. A single serving size for tofu comes with 3g of fiber and 11g of protein, not to mention the vitamin/mineral content. Considering the protein to calorie ratio this may be a body builders dream food since the fat content in tofu is minimal. This food wouldn't just be a beneficial to a person trying to build and maintain muscle.
Tofu promotes:
Weight loss
Lowers cholesterol levels.
Prevents anemia with the help of iron within tofu.
Prevents osteoporosis (tofu is rich in calcium)
Helps manage Diabetes.
Treats Kidney Disease
Exhibits Brain health.
Decreases Hair loss (tofu provides keratin - a type of protein)
Tofu may sound great but remember everything in moderation. Since tofu is a soy product it is made available to the public as GMO. Over the years we see GMO as being bad for our gut health - however, in moderation tofu is just fine.
I cooked my tofu stir-fry style. Mixed with orange, yellow bell peppers and asparagus for an array of colors served over white rice. The sauce I made contained soy sauce, teriyaki sauce and hot and sweet chili sauce. Besides all the numerous health benefits, all this tofu cost a total of $4! A cheap and easy way to make dinner, what else can you ask for? If any questions I am always a message away on here, enjoy one of your new favorite dishes!
